Good evening. As I was talking to a friend the other day, basically complaining about my office temperature, I said something that really said a lot itself, “It is beautiful outside but freezing inside.”
While I was naturally referring to the weather outside verses the temperature inside, spiritually I was apparently referring to something that we all struggle with…the heart. In talking to him, I spoke to me.
Sometimes life fits this same description “Beautiful Outside But Freezing Inside.” By this I mean that we can look good, and look one way on the outside, but on the inside, our heart is out of place, and life experiences have taught me that it’s always hard to diagnose what we don’t see.
Its rather normal to look through a window and see the sun, see blue skies, and instantly draw the conclusion that its simply a beautiful day. But its not until you actually walk outside of that place that you realize that what you saw isn’t what you felt. Likewise with the heart. We can see a person smile and seemingly show happiness, but until we find ourselves in a place in which we can feel what they feel…well…we just don’t know.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?” – Jeremiah 17:9
